Its all in the mind...

I am sure most of you are wondering where I have disappeared after my overwhelming posts of patriotism. Well I have been a little caught up with various activities. I have been doing a little voluntary work with a Stroke Club in my vicinity and it sure is fun. I also have been going places in the last few weeks about which I will write in my next post.

To start with I will give you a little glimpse into the Stroke club so that you all don’t get bored. It is a Non Profitable organization that spends sometime with people who have suffered from Stroke (which also includes heart attack patients and cancer patients too along with paralytic patients). It is well said that every new day is a new beginning to a new leaf in your life. In my last few weeks at the stroke club I have learnt how to play Indoor Balls and also a little about Bridges. Indoor Ball is the indoor version of the Outdoor Balls. All the members of this club are 65 plus and the oldest woman is 102. They are in all around 25 odd people but we have a lot of fun. I learn a lot form each of them. Most of them are British and have settled in New Zealand for 30 years or more.

We have a lady in the Kitchen who is as active as a person of my age. Another lady that helps is about 80 and says she is still only 20. Gentlemen who calls himself Mr. Wonderful and trust me he is indeed, he is so very chirpy. Another gentleman is incapable of talking but has great spirits. I have spent around 1 month with all of them and I cannot say any of them is sick. The spirit with each one of them is unbelievable. They are so lively and live each day as it comes.

At this point I feel our older generation very fussy who refuse to even go for a walk at the age of 60 and complain about their health. It's all just in the mind...
